To open a product by bar-code:Note: This function requires a bar-code scanner connected to your workstation and configured to begin each scanned code with <bc> and end each scanned code with </bc>. (Example: When you scan the UPC bar-code 123456789999, it should be entered in DolphinRTK as: <bc>123456789999</bc>) When a scanner is set up in this way, you can use it to quickly enter bar-codes in any bar-code field in DolphinRTK by following this procedure:
Place your cursor in the bar-code field.
Use the scanner to scan the desired bar-code.
The scanned bar-code is automatically entered in the field.
When you have a product unit with a bar-code label, you can scan the bar-code to quickly open its corresponding product in DolphinRTK. If the product list has no corresponding product record and you have permission to request new products, you can submit a request that the missing product be added.
To open a product by bar-code:
Starting at the Product Search page
Place your cursor in the Find field in the upper right.
Use your scanner to scan the desired bar-code.
The scanned bar-code is automatically entered in the Find field. The result depends on the matches found in your product list:
If the bar-code matches only one product in your product list: That Product Information page opens immediately. See Viewing a Product for details on viewing the Product Information page.
If the bar-code matches multiple products in your product list: All matching products are listed. Click one to open its Product Information page. See Viewing a Product for details on viewing the Product Information page.
If the bar-code matches no products in your product list: If you have permission to request new products, you can request that the scanned product be added to the product list. Click the offered link and see Requesting a Product for details on how to proceed.
